Objective: to replace the derelict clinic building with a new one Cost: $13,500[Home]
Ø the establishment of the Kwong church; Ø the establishment of a cell group of believers among the Muslim nomads who pass through Chageen each year; Ø enhancing the prestige of Christendom in a region where it is often held in contempt by traditionalists and Muslims. However, the building in which the clinic is housed is crumbling. It was built in 1982 on a very poor foundation. As a result, the masonry building has completely broken in half and termites have taken advantage of the cracks to go up into the rafters where they have destroyed large sections of the roof structure. The staff has abandoned one half of the building. The poor state of this structure is proving a significant obstacle to our goal of providing quality medical care and a vibrant Christian witness on two counts: Ø the poor state of the building says “poor medical care” to patients resulting in a diminished patient load with a consequent hit on revenues – bad news for a self supporting institution. Ø the poor state of the building has made it difficult in recent years to attract and retain qualified staff – bad news for any medical institution. As the foundation of the old building is so poor, nothing can be done to save it. What Mark and Diane would like to do, is build a new, somewhat smaller reinforced concrete and masonry structure on the same site – this time with a solid foundation. The project will cost about $13,500, and they would like to see the project started in early 2008. Contributions to this project may be sent to TEAM, PO Box 969, Wheaton, Il 60189 with a note designating the gift to “Vanderkooi – Medical Clinic Project.” Download a complete prospectus of the project (Word 2000 - 97k) |
