Regular support consists of those gifts given on a more or less regular, predictable
basis.

Special Gifts are either a) designated by the donor for some special purpose (e.g.
radio station) or b) given on a unique one-time basis. Sometimes distinguishing
what is intended as regular support and what is a special gift is difficult.

Notes:
- 1.
Grants
to Chadian church work is our way
(with TEAM’s permission) of spreading your generosity around to our less
fortunate Chadian brothers and sisters of the Evangelical Church of Chad.
- 2.
Scholarship and
resettlement of Kinamati -
We helped sponsor a promising Kwong fellow through seminary in N’Djamena and
then provided for his resettlement in Chageen on completion. Included in this
amount are special gifts to purchase a pair of oxen for him.
- 3.
Low Power FM radio
station. This FM station will
broadcast in Kwong and other native languages. It is a means of doing an end-run
around the illiteracy which is proving to be a tremendous obstacle to the gospel
in Kwongland.
- 4.
Conferences
- Most of this was a trip to Thailand for a leadership
consultation with TEAM in July 2004. ¾ of our tickets were paid for by TEAM and
this represents the other ¼, as well as a small amount for another conference.
- 5.
Church leader visit
to Chageen -
You will remember from our last newsletter that we were obliged
to call on the top officials of the Chadian church to intervene in a
serious situation that threatened our ministry. We had to fly them in on MAF and
it cost a lot of money - but was money very well spent as it turns out.
- 6.
Construction and
outfitting Chad field workshop - These power tools and welding machine will stay in N’Djamena so
all the missionaries in Chad can use them when the need arises. It was sort of
gift from all of you to all of them with us in the middle. This equipment has
already proved very useful.
Vehicle Purchase
In addition to the aforementioned special expenditures,
we purchased a used Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4 with moneys which both of us as
singles had laid up for the day when the need would arise.

7.
The TEAM office in N’Djamena handled the purchase of the vehicle before
our arrival in Chad in 2000. They were “taken” and paid
$13,600 to somebody who was
not the rightful owner of the car. The case against the bogus owner is still in
court. We are not particularly optimistic, but are still trusting the Lord to
work this out in our favor.
